Alicia Keys burst into the music scene in 2001
with her blend of soul and hip-hop (with jazz and classical thrown in) and a
style and finesse on the piano not heard in years. Alicia grew up in New York
and began work on what would become her debut LP at the age of 14. Her talent
was evident early with study at the Professional Performance Arts School in
Manhattan. Alicia finished high school by the age
of 16, and she attended Columbia University before deciding to make music her
focus. She signed with Arista Records in 1998 and followed Clive Davis to his
new label - J Records. Miss Keys could first be
heard on the soundtrack for Men In Black with "Dah Dee Dah (Sexy Thing)"
and Shaft with "Rock Wit U".
